The RFID Journal Awards recognize companies that have distinguished themselves by their successful use of radio frequency identification (RFID) or introduction of a valuable new RFID product or services.

Best Use of RFID to Enhance a Product or Service
Boeing for a solution that replaces detailed visual inspection with radio frequency identification.
Most Innovative Use of RFID

RFID Special Achievement Award
Kevin Ashton the cofounder and former executive director of the Auto-ID Center, and a frequent contributor to RFID Journal, was presented with the RFID Special Achievement Award, in recognition of his leadership of the organization that developed the first Electronic Product Code (EPC) technology.
Best in Show
Impinj for its Speedway xArray system, consisting of an RFID reader combined with an integrated antenna and special software. The unit can be installed in a ceiling and create a 40-foot diameter read zone (wider than for a typical EPC Gen 2 RFID reader), thereby enabling real-time visibility into the locations of tags within that radius, and pinpointing their positions within a few meters.
Green Award
The City of Grand Rapids, Michigan for its use of an RFID-enabled recycling and refuse-collection system.
